Helpful Hints

We've compiled several topics that are helpful to new Summit members. If you have questions that aren't answered here, please feel free to call our Member Service Center at (585) 453-7030 or (800) 836-SFCU extension 7030 or email us.

1. Your member account number and Online Access/Quik Tran PIN

Each Summit member receives one member account number when you join the credit union. This account number is important for all of your Summit transactions, so when you call The Summit, you'll need to provide this number. As a member, you'll have one account number regardless of the number of shares you may have with the credit union.

In addition, each member also receives an initial Online Access/Quik Tran Personal Identification Number (PIN) when they join. This is 4-digit number enables you to conveniently access your accounts online via Summit Online Access as well as by phone via the Quik Tran, 24-hour Teller-by-Phone Service. You will be prompted to create a new PIN after your initial sign-in. Please keep your member account number and Quik Tran PIN in a safe, secure location.

2. Your account statement

Your account activity statement is a snapshot of all the activity in your Summit accounts. Our statements clearly display your Member Benefit Level as well. If you have a Summit checking account, line of credit, or a VISA® account (specifically a VISA account with a balance), you will receive your statement monthly. If you have any electronic funds activity in your account, you will also receive a statement that month for the shares affected by that transaction. Your account activity statement will generally arrive to you the 2nd week of the month. Statements for all Savings, Club, IRA, and Certificate accounts are mailed quarterly. You can also elect to receive your statements electronically. Interested? Please visit our E-Services section to sign up today.

5. What's the difference between surcharge-free and Non-Summit or non-Sharenet ATM fee?

Surcharge free means that you will not be charged a fee by the owner of any ATM in the Surcharge Free Network. As a Summit member, you have access to numerous locations. Visit the ATM page of this site for details.

Non-Summit or non-Sharenet ATM fee is a transaction made at a non-Summit or non-Sharenet ATM. Each month, you're able to use a non-Summit or non-Sharenet ATM at no charge from The Summit as many times as your Member Benefit Level allows1. However, the ATM owner may impose a fee for use of the machine. Here are 3 easy ways to avoid ATM surcharges:

  • Use ATMs owned by The Summit
  • Conduct your transactions at a surcharge-free location
  • Get cash back when using your Summit VISA® Check/Debit Card at a supermarket or store

How can I avoid Non-Summit or non-Sharenet ATM Transaction fees?

  • Use Summit-owned ATMs
  • Analyze your usage patterns and try to reduce multiple ATM trips per week into one
  • Get cash back when using your Summit VISA® Check/Debit Card at a supermarket or store
