Feature Image of New Scams Take Advantage of Coronavirus Concerns

Cybercriminals are using concerns about COVID-19, the 2019 novel coronavirus, to launch phishing attacks.

A phishing email is sent to individuals with the logo of the CDC (Center for Disease Control) Health Alert Network with claims to have a list of local active infections. Upon clicking the link in the email, recipients are instructed to enter their email login credentials. This phishing attempt is being used to steal individuals’ email login credentials and/or infect your devices with malware. Cybercriminals are also using ads that peddle false information or scam products.

As always, be vigilant to avoid clicking such email links and/or revealing personal information requested via email, text or phone.
