When it comes to banking, you generally have two options: you can get into your car, drive to the nearest branch of your bank, wait in a short line to be taken care of by a representative; or you can stay in the comfort of your home or office and take care of your business online. In the case of The Summit, there is a third option: the Virtual Branch (more on that later).

Not to be confused with banking on a website, which relies on an internet connection, mobile banking is conducted through an app on your smartphone or tablet.  Mobile banking doesn’t always require the internet – it can also be accessed through the device’s data connection.

The Summit Federal Credit Union’s app: “The Summit FCU,” is easy to download and is constantly updated so that members are getting the best technology to do their banking. The app keeps your data secure and expedites the entire banking process. Need to make a quick transfer from your savings to your checking account?  Woke up at 2am in a panic that you forgot to pay a bill that is coming due?  No problem. It’s all at your fingertips with mobile banking.

More and more, mobile banking is becoming a necessity in mainstay in our lives. It’s convenient and keeps us constantly connected to our money from our mobile device, wherever we are.

Here’s an example of the convenience of mobile banking: Jan has a check that she wants to deposit. She wants to deposit it sooner rather than later, but she works full time and won’t be able to swing by her bank branch until Saturday morning. She can’t deposit the check using her computer, but through the mobile app, she can easily and safely deposit the check by logging in and following the prompts which will utilize the device’s camera. Like any check, it will take a few business days to clear if it’s over a certain amount, but Jan was saved the time and travel to go to a physical branch to make the deposit.

Mobile banking is super convenient – it’s available 24/7.

Perusing The Summit’s mobile app, you can deposit checks, check your balance, transfer funds, make an EZ Loan payment, access your statements, schedule a Virtual Branch appointment, and more.

And what is The Summit’s Virtual Branch? This newest branch allows you to meet with a relationship specialist face-to-face over Zoom to conduct many of the things that you would by visiting a physical branch, but from the comfort of your dorm or apartment: open a new account, take out a loan, and more!
