Celebrate 200 Years of the Erie Canal in Fairport

September 28, 2025 - September 29, 2025 from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

There are several events happening in our footprint to celebrate the bicentennial of the Erie Canal.

The Town of Perinton hosts a celebration for all ages at Perinton Park on Sunday, September 28th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm including food trucks, live music sponsored by The Summit, games, history and more!

A flotilla including the Sam Patch, Colonial Belle, and the Riverie will escort the Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief arriving from Pittsford into the Village of Fairport at approximately 3:00 pm.

The Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief will be open for free public tours on Sunday, September 28th from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and on Monday, September 29th from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Don’t miss your chance to witness history as the replica Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief makes its way from Buffalo to New York City, recreating the original voyage by Governor Clinton in 1825 leading to the “Wedding of the Waters.”
